Well I am glad that I had one
fitted and working last year on our journey back to Cornwall. It was a dark
cold winter night, the wind was howling and the rain was falling `cats &
dogs`. We had just reached a section of road where the street lights finished,
so pitch black. My wife was driving and she had the headlights on full beam,
but had to dip them due to oncoming traffic, then out of the dark this large
deer appeared running across the grass verge. Then BANG the car rode over the animal [ if you squeamish
stop reading now ] when we came to a stop I ran back to recover the animal
before someone else ran over it. I found one leg still intact to pull it onto
the verge, it was not a pretty site. As we could not remove it for our freezer
[the law says] I offered it to the couple in the next car that stopped !! As a
deer is considered a Crown Animal we could not claim damages of `Her Majesty `and
had to claim on our own insurers, tough eh.
The bumper was hanging off, water
was leaking from somewhere, my Wife was shaking like a leaf in a thunder storm
and I was trying to get a signal on my cell phone and avoid getting knocked
down myself.
However, we have the incident on
video due to the Dash-Eagle video recorder, one
of my stock items. Almost everyone who buys one from me says the same thing “ I wish I had one fitted before MY accident” well
that is my point. `It is no good bolting the stable door AFTER the horse has
bolted` fit one NOW.
